Megan peck
Hi! My name is Megan Peck. I am a costume technician currently based out of Winston-Salem, NC. I am projected to graduate with a BFA in Costume Design and Technology and a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in May of 2024. My passion is bringing renderings to life by telling a character's story through costume. I combine an artistic and logistical approach to create my unique draping and management style. I create garments that fit the body they were made for and last through alterations and years to come. I find joy in leading a team and teaching technical skills to others, so we can work together to create beautiful costumes.
When I am not in the costume shop, I enjoy spending my time knitting, baking bread, going to baseball games, and traveling back to my home state of Wisconsin. My past experience working in health care allows me to effectively collaborate and communicate with my fellow costumers, designers, managers, and directors. I am always learning, and I hope to gain more knowledge through experience in the future!
In my younger years, my passion for sewing was fostered by my great aunt, who was a home economics teacher and quilting instructor. Quickly, my quilting turned into garment making.
In high school, I had the opportunity to attend a summer intensive at Parsons School of Design in New York City, where I worked with unconventional materials to create garments and learn basic design principles. This experience fostered creativity in me that I have brought and grown throughout my time at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and various professional experiences.
